| Mississippian Railway Cooperative Homan Industries operates the Mississippian Railway Cooperative, a 25-mile short line, which connects with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe at Amory, Mississippi. The Mississippian was presented the Golden Box Car Award for its achievements. This award recognized the Mississippian as being one of the best managed short line railroads in the nation. The Mississippian rail siding at Homan Industries affords shipping access throughout the nation at very competitive prices. Also, rail shipments to the West Coast have allowed for the export of Southern Yellow Pine to Asian markets through intermodal shipments. Steeped in history, the Mississippian was built during the early 1920’s and continues today as a viable, cost-effective means of transportation for Homan Industries, as well as other local industries.
